MARATHON KIDS

Hi Summitt Families!  I know that we have been preoccupied with our Y-tie fundraiser, but I just wanted to let you know that we will still be participating in Marathon Kids at Summitt this year.  Registration forms will be going out in the Monday folders very soon!  I can't stress how wonderful this program, plus it's free :)  Once you turn in the registration form, we will give your child a running log.  All running or walking that is logged should be done outside of school! We would love for you to grab your kids and go out for an evening walk or jog, and then log the miles on the chart.  There will be a Kick-off Celebration at UT Mike Myers stadium on October 1st at 9 AM!! Free water bottles and bumper stickers are given out at the Kick-off!! Once the running log gets filled up...your child will turn it in and get a Marathon Kids Finisher T-shirt around April!! They are also eligible to attend the Final Mile and receive their medal for finishing 26.2 miles!! So get those registration forms in as soon as you can, and start keeping track of the miles you exercise!
Thanks again for all of your support with Y-ties...we actually had to make a 3rd order because Gold, Silver, and Rainbow seem to be the "hot" colors to have this year!!  Best wishes!

PE Fundraiser

Hello everyone! This year, we will be having a fundraiser for our Physical Education department here at Summitt!! We have not had a fundraiser in over 8 years, and we would like to be able to get some new equipment for the kids including new jump ropes, basketballs, gymnastics mats, and stereo equipment.  We would really appreciate your support!
We will be sending out an order form and brochure for the Y-ties in next week's Monday Folders!!  They are amazing and stylish shoe laces that do NOT require any TYING!!  They are great for little kids who have trouble tying shoes, adults who would like the ease of not having to tie their shoes, and super stylish accessories for any age!!  There are over 48 styles, so please choose your favorite and bring your order form and money to the gym.  We have most styles in stock and can get them to you or your kids RIGHT AWAY!!
Please check out the website below for more details and thanks in advance for supporting Summitt PE!!

AAPER Cross Country Run 11/20

AAPER Cross Country Run- Saturday, November 20th, 2010 @ Festival Beach

Thirty-four years ago, two PE teachers came up with the idea that we should let the kids run.  Not make them run or tell them they have to run.  Just let them run.  These wise men thought to keep the cost down and let them run through the leaves, run by the lake, run for fun, run to compete, run for the first time, or just run to run.  We invite you to continue the tradition started by two of our visionary teachers.  Please join us on November 20th, 2010 @ Festival Beach for the Austin Youth Cross Country Run.  Click the website below for more information!!
